The Sailing Area
The Florida sun coast offers
an
outstanding mix of quiet
anchorages and
beaches
along with all of the modern
services and facilities that
you can
think of. Tampa Bay is
centrally located
on Florida’s
west coast, and is one of
the largest protected
bays in the
country. An exciting chain of barrier
islands north and south of Tampa Bay
protects
the coastline. Picture-postcard
white sand beaches
stretch along the
whole coast. The Gulf of Mexico
beckons
for long, open water sails along the
coast.
Most
visitors will sail the beautiful waters
during the day and utilize the
excellent facilities ashore at night by
using the many marinas in the area.
But don’t be fooled by the development
that surrounds this area. There are many
peaceful anchorages that allow you to
slow down and enjoy the natural wonders
that Sailing Florida Charter has to
offer.

The Boat Amenities
The boat will have linens, towels,
blankets, pillows, and galley ware. Each
boat has a dinghy with outboard engine.
A BBQ grill with propane tanks is
located on the stern rail of the boat.
The
Cruising Ground
Enjoy sailing and
exploring bays, rivers, estuaries,
barrier islands and the open waters of
the Gulf of Mexico.
Secluded anchorages,
upscale marinas, parks with nature
preserves, hundreds of restaurants and a
great diversity of shopping are all part
of the Tampa Bay Experience.
A perfect
chain of barrier islands protects the
coastline and is one of the largest
protected bays in the country. Although
the area is fairly shallow in nature,
it is well documented and full of
navigational aids.
The
Weather
The sailing season is year round with
winds typically being light to moderate
and easterly in the morning switching to
a westerly sea breeze in the afternoon
during the summer.
Winter sailing can be
quite variable with southerly winds
prior to north-westerly fronts and then
several crisp and clear days as the wind
clocks north and east before the next
front. The area boasts over 300 days of
sunshine a year.
